Down go the Domers

Last Night’s Action
Marquette 71, Notre Dame 64: I’ve been weary of buying into the Golden Eagles strong start in the Big East, as going into last night only win against a tourney-bound team was over Villanova. That changed last night with a strong showing in South Bend. They’ll hope to up their conference record to 8-0 against Georgetown this weekend. Meanwhile, after winning 45 straight at the Joyce Center, the Domers have dropped two in a row.
Hampton 62, Morgan State 57: The result moves both teams into a four-way tie for first place in the MEAC at 5-2 (along with Norfolk State and Bethune-Cookman), with Florida A&M and Deleware State one game back at 4-3.
Oklahoma 89, Oklahoma State 81:The Cowboys miss a great opportunity after being the last team in the bracket earlier in the day. The loss sets up a key bubblicious showdown with Texas A&M this weekend. Meanwhile the Sooners stay undefeated in the Big 12, and keep hope alive for a #1 seed in next week’s bracket.
Tonight’s Action
Miami (Fla) @ North Carolina State: The Pack must have it, while the ‘Canes look to bounce back from Sunday’s disappointing loss to Va Tech at home.
Kentucky @ Mississippi: The ‘Cats are the SEC’s only undefeated, and while the Rebs are struggling, winning on the road in this conference is never a given.
Boston College @ Maryland: Winner has a shot at next week’s bracket, while the loser has a long, uphill battle to get back in the bubble picture. In other words, it’s make-or-break.
Purdue @ Wisconsin: The Boilers just picked up a big road win at Minnesota, can they string two together in a row? The Badgers meanwhile are in need of a solid showing to avoid falling to the bad side of the bubble picture.
Texas @ Baylor: The Longhorns look to keep pace behind first place Oklahoma, while the Bears hope to get back on track after losing to Oklahoma over the weekend.
Northeastern @ VCU: Sole possession of first place in the CAA is on the line.
BYU @ Utah: The night’s other make-or-break game, as both teams are looking to claw back into the MWC title race.
