The Mid-Week Peek

Wednesday January 14th, 2008

Last Night’s Action

Kentucky 90, Tennessee 72:  The ‘Cats jump into the lead dog spot in the SEC East.  In other news, there exists the possibility the SEC doesn’t have a team in next week’s Top 25 polls with Tennessee’s loss.

Memphis 55, Tulsa 54: The Tigers squeked out a game they had to have.  For a 13-3 team, thier profile is not nearly as strong as their record shows.

Florida State 78, North Carolina State 65:The ‘Noles have historicly stubbed their toes in games like these under Leonard Hamilton.  Maybe this is a sign they’re ready to turn the corner.

Kansas 87, Kansas State 71:The Jayhawks jumped out to a big lead, on their way to a solid win over rival K State.  They looked primed to battle Baylor and TAMU for the Big 12’s #3 spot.

BYU 73, TCU 61:  The Cougars pick up a key win just days after the Horned Frogs took down UNLV.

Tonight’s Action

Michigan State @ Penn State:  The Nittany Lions are in the bracket conversation for the first time in a while, but could use a signature win like tonight’s to boost their profile.

Binghampton @ Albany: Two of America East’s top dogs fight for the conferences top spot.

Syracuse @ Georgetown: The winner will likely be on the 2 seed in next week’s bracket.

South Carolina @ LSU: The SEC won’t been getting a ton of bids this year, so separating yourself from the pack is a bright idea.  I win here would be wise by both squads.

Arkansas @ Mississippi:  The Hogs looks to bounce back from Saturday’s loss to Mississippi State.

Drake @ Illinois State:A key to for the Red Birds if they hope to stay atop the MVC this season.

Michigan @ Illinois:  Just 11 days ago, the Wolverines pulled away late to steal the win in Ann Arbor.  Now the tough part, beating a team twice in two weeks, at their place.

Wake Forest @ Boston College:  We all know what happened to BC after they took down North Carolina.  Can Wake avoid the same fate?

Maryland @ Miami (FL):Bubblelicious.

Baylor @ Texas A&M: Both are sleepers to challenge for the B12 crown.
